Karen Capo earned her Masters of Science from the University of Houston, Clear Lake, in Early Childhood Education with a Teacher of Young Children certification. Her B.S. is from University of Houston, Summa Cum Laude, in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies.
Karen has been named "Teacher Educator of the Year" by the Houston Area Association for the Education of Young Children.
Karen is the Director of the School Literacy and Culture Project, which is part of the Rice University Center for Education. She has worked with this program since 1991, beginning as a Mentor Teacher.

Karen has served as adjunct faculty at UHCL, taught Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st Grade for a total of 13 years, as well having experience as a Curriculum Director and Science Laboratory Specialist.
